Can you tell the difference between important and unimportant?

Part 2 of 3 of our blog series “3 mistakes you should avoid if you want your ethical fashion business to grow successfully”

Have you ever heard of the 80-20 rule?

The 80-20 rule was discovered by Italian economist Wilfriedo Pareto, and states, among other things, that it is highly likely that 20% of your activities are responsible for 80% of your results.

Imagine what results you could achieve if you were able to concentrate on exactly these profitable activities. During our work with companies, we focus on researching these activities. Here are some clues on how you can learn to research these activities:

  • Measure all your activities over the course of 1 week. You do this by dividing your day into 15 minute steps and writing down exactly how you spend your time. Record your activities according to this system for 1 week. Then please try to find out which recurring unimportant activity is eating up your time.
  • Decide to cancel these activities for the test period. This is often not easy as these avoidance strategies are often subconscious. Therefore, you shouldn't be too ambitious and only choose one activity.
  • Find out which activities bring the best results and consciously increase the time you spend on this activity. To sharpen your attention, you should also consider the following tips.
  • If you could only work 2 hours a day. What would you do? Do more of it!
